400 Million People in Asia Have No Electricity
Union Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that during the last five years, India has formulated several epoch-making policies and initiatives to ensure energy justice for more than 1.3 billion people living in the country.
He said that 400 million people in the Asian region do not have access to electricity due to insufficient and unbalanced energy infrastructure. Similarly, people living in villages are not getting clean electricity. Therefore, safe, stable, economical and better energy is an important responsibility of governments of all countries.
Talking about India's energy vision, it was conceptualized by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the year 2016 and it is based on four pillars named Energy Access, Energy Efficiency, Energy Continuity and Energy Security.
He said, "Under our integrated approach to energy planning during the last five years, India has been placing special emphasis on energy access with energy justice which is an important objective in itself."
Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel Dharmendra Pradhan has said that the orientation of global energy consumption towards Asia is a reality and this change should be rooted in energy justice. Addressing the opening session of the 8th Asian Ministerial Energy Round Table Meeting in Abu Dhabi, Mr. Pradhan said that now we need to ensure that this change is rooted in 'energy justice', which Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned about India's Energy Vision As the most important component of.
Mr. Pradhan said that emerging Asia will provide a new impetus to economic development globally in the next 20 years. He said that developing economies in the global context would contribute to 80 percent of the incremental global growth. India and China will contribute more than 50 percent in this.

Mr. Pradhan said, "Higher demand for energy access and living as well as better prosperity in developing countries will ensure greater demand for energy. In the context of energy efficiency and clean technology, it is necessary for countries with low income and low per capita energy consumption to have definite access to technology and capital. This will ensure better energy security than taking short-term steps to supply and price fossil fuels. ”Mr. Pradhan elaborated on India's energy vision and said that it was conceived by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016 and It is based on four pillars called Energy Access, Energy Efficiency, Energy Continuity and Energy Security.
He said, "Under our integrated approach to energy planning during the last five years, India has been giving special emphasis on energy access with energy justice which is an important objective in itself." Later Mr. Pradhan called for 'safe, affordable And while addressing the session organized on the theme of "Inclusive Access to Sustainable Energy Services", "In India we have more than 1.3 billion people A need to increase the availability of energy per capita energy consumption is lower than the global average.
India is now the third largest energy consumer in the world and its energy demand is growing faster than all major economies of the world. Our share of total global primary energy demand will double to 11 percent by 2040. We are preparing keeping in mind the similar increase in energy demand in the country. For this, extensive investment in the same proportion in the energy sector is necessary. '
Shri Pradhan said that energy justice in itself will be an important objective under our integrated approach to energy planning. In this context, we are striving to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal of the United Nations i.e. SDG 7 soon. To achieve this objective, many transformative policies have been formulated and initiated in India.

We are vastly expanding our infrastructure facilities, be it power generation or more renewable and gas based infrastructure facilities such as pipelines, city gas networks, LNG terminals. We started a comprehensive campaign 3 years ago to ensure better access to clean cooking fuel under the Ujjwala scheme and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already given 8 croreth LPG connection two days ago.
The 'blue flame revolution' is fast moving forward. LPG coverage has increased from 55 percent five years ago to over 90 percent now. India has achieved the goal of providing electricity to all villages. This year, India is striving to achieve the goal of providing electricity to all households through 'Saubhagya'. Clean transportation is also being given high priority in India.
We are going to adopt BS-II fuel directly from BS-II till April 2020. India is moving towards a gas-based economy by increasing the share of gas in the energy mix from 6 percent to 15 percent by 2030. We have built more than 16,000 km of gas pipeline and 11,000 km of additional gas pipeline is under construction.
