100 Million Records in Interpol's Database

    Interpol General Secretary Jurgen Stock informed Union Home Minister Amit Shah of Interpol's database. Which has 100 million records, secure global data communication channels (X-24/7) and other equipment. 
 
   Through which Interpol is assisting law enforcement agencies worldwide. He said that Indian law enforcement agencies could make extensive use of Interpol's tools and databases, especially at border control points. 
  Mr. Stock also assured to increase operational cooperation. Interpol Secretary General Jurgen Stock met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi. He thanked Mr. Shah for the commitment and cooperation expressed and assured Interpol's possible support in the fight against terror. He said that Interpol is paying special attention to terrorism, organized and emerging crimes and cyber crimes.
   During the meeting, Mr. Shah proposed to host the Interpol General Assembly in New Delhi as part of the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of Indian independence in 2022. He expressed India's desire to become a regional center of Interpol Global Academy by providing infrastructure with assistance. In a conversation with Mr. Stock, the Home Minister emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's zero tolerance approach on drug trafficking, international terrorism, dirty money and money laundering. 
   He called on Interpol to prioritize fighting over these threats. Mr. Shah stressed the urgent need to formulate a long-term strategic action plan to fight these threats not only in the Asian region but around the world. Mr. Shah said that Indian intelligence and investigative agencies have gained rich and varied experiences in their decades-old fight against terrorism. Interpol is welcomed to actively collaborate with Indian law enforcement agencies to make the best use of this expertise. 
   He also referred to recent amendments to UAPA. The Home Minister expressed concern about the delay in publication of the Red Notice and stressed the need for prior consultation to ensure early publication of the Red Notice. He said that with such cooperation, India will be able to chase fast-fugitive economic criminals and terrorists.
