Strategic Partnership Between India and Singapore
Singapore's Home and Law Minister K.K. Shanmugam met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi today.
The two leaders discussed bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest during the meeting. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that India-Singapore relations are based on shared values and attitudes, economic opportunities and mutual interests on key issues.
He said that after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Singapore last year, there has been a new momentum in the strategic partnership between the two countries. Home Minister Shanmugam also emphasized how much Singapore values its relations with India.
The two leaders exchanged views and concerns on the challenges posed by terrorism and extremism.
The two leaders agreed to strengthen the existing bilateral institutional mechanism on security issues. Both sides also agreed to enhance cooperation in combating international organized crime, including drug trafficking and economic crimes. Singapore Minister K.K. Shanmugam invited Amit Shah to visit Singapore.
