India-Nepal Partnership Expanded
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nepal's Prime Minister K.K. P. Sharma Oli today jointly inaugurated South Asia's first cross-border petroleum products pipeline through video conferencing.
The pipeline connects Motihari in Bihar to Amlekhgunj in Nepal. On this occasion, the Prime Minister of Nepal, Oli expressed appreciation for the early implementation of the important connectivity project.
The project has been completed well ahead of schedule. On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi said that the 69 km long Motihari-Amlekhgunj pipeline will provide clean petroleum products to the people of Nepal at an affordable cost. The capacity of this pipeline is two million metric tons per year.
He welcomed Prime Minister Oli's announcement that said that the price of petroleum products in Nepal will be reduced by two rupees per liter. Prime Minister Modi said that regular reconciliation at the highest political level has set a forward-looking agenda for the expansion of the India-Nepal partnership.
He expressed confidence that bilateral relations between India and Nepal will continue to deepen and expand to different regions. Prime Minister Oli invited Prime Minister Modi to visit Nepal, which he accepted.
