India is the world's third largest publisher of books
Professor Govind Prasad Sharma said that India is the world's third largest publisher of books. He said, it is our priority that through these books we produce such material which takes our rich culture and traditions far ahead. Shri Sharma said that the theme of this year's New Delhi World Book Fair is to discuss the dynamics of implementation of National Education Policy through publication for different age groups.
Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' inaugurated the virtual edition of New Delhi World Book Fair - 2021. On this occasion, the Education Minister appreciated that the 'National Education Policy -2020' is the theme of the New Delhi World Book Fair 2021. Regarding the National Education Policy, the Union Minister said that, it has emerged as the biggest reform in the world, which will not only develop India as a knowledge hub, but will also help in making the learners ideal and global citizens. Quote by Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'Who reads, he leads the nation' The Education Minister said that one who has the ability to read, write and think can lead in any field.The Education Minister also launched 17 bilingual titles published by NBT under the implementation policy of the National Education Policy-2020. These titles have been published in bilingual format under the Bilingual Editions Series for Children as per the guidelines of NEP-2020, which aims to produce supplementary reading material for children to adapt to the multilingual environment of the country.
Yuvraj Malik, director of the National Book Trust, said that the theme of the New Delhi World Book Fair-2021 as the National Education Policy-2020 is dedicated to assimilating the book-reading culture from the point of view of the new education policy. He said that, through the New Delhi World Book Fair-2021, NBT will organize more than 20 webinars, seminars and conferences to discuss the new education policy. Mr. Malik also said that as the knowledge partner of the nation, it is the responsibility of NBT to take steps for creation of knowledge as well as for the dissemination of knowledge.
