India-France Trade Target 15 Billion Euros

     Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu said that to achieve the target of 15 billion Euros by 2022, the pace of bilateral trade needs to be increased manifold. Describing the strategic partnership between India and France as an important pillar of India's foreign policy, 
 
   He said that India and France can serve as precursors to peace and stability. India and France should work closely as a precursor to peace and stability. Climate Change: 
  India is committed to achieving the Paris Agreement goals in advance, and held talks with a delegation of French MPs. Talking in Delhi today with the delegation of French MPs headed by the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs and the Senate Ms. Sophie Primas, Mr. Naidu called for closer cooperation in India and France to promote peace and harmony in the world . 
  Shri Naidu said that India always believes in peaceful co-existence with all countries including its neighbors. We do not want anyone to interfere in the internal affairs of our country nor do we want to interfere in the affairs of other countries themselves. 
  The Vice President said that India attaches great importance to its partnership with France in defense cooperation, maritime security, counter-terrorism, space cooperation, economic partnership and other areas. Given this, he suggested the establishment of the Indo-French Parliamentary Friendship Group to promote closer relations between the two countries. 
  He expressed his happiness about France's decision to partner with India under the SmartCity initiative and said that India's development requires huge investment in urban renewal and clean energy. Calling for greater trade, technology and capital flows between the two countries, 
   Mr. Naidu said that climate change is a matter of confidence for the Government of India, reaffirming India's commitment to the Paris Agreement. He said that India is on track to achieve the goals of this agreement. 
  He particularly praised France for organizing a 'One Planit Summit' in this regard. Mr. Naidu recalled his visit to France during the centenary year celebrations of the First World War ceasefire treaty held in November 2018. He said that he had inaugurated the first Indian War Memorial in Villars Guislain in memory of the more than 9,000 Indian heroes who sacrificed themselves in this war. Referring to the long-term and multi-faceted space cooperation between India and France through ISRO and CNES, Mr. Naidu said, "We are committed to taking this cooperation further."
